Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Trail Nearing Completion

9th Jul 2020

In some positive news in these challenging times, trail buildering contractor Trailscapes has started construction of the final stage of the Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Trail project.

More than 55kms of new trails will be built in the Badgers Range, north of Sheffield, taking the total distance of the trail network to over 90kms.

At this early stage Council anticipates approximately 20kms of new trails will be open in time for the end of year holiday period.

If you have been to the Warrawee Reserve in recent weeks you may have noticed the bridge across the Mersey River (at the end of Shale Road) has been replaced.

The new bridge is more resilient to flooding than the previous design and makes for a better experience, reducing the amount of shale rock to ride over.

Next Level MTB has also spent some time on the bike trails upgrading bridges on the Railton Express and repairing drainage lines and brake bumps on the three descent trails.
