CREATIVE PAPER TAS

Creative Paper Tasmania is situated in the heart of the traditional papermaking town of Burnie. Our papermakers produce some of the world’s most extraordinary papers here entirely by hand, using natural fibres and Tasmanian plants.

At Creative Paper, you can take a papermaking tour and learn the ancient art yourself, while enjoying the gallery and the1930’s mill environment.

Take a tour with one of our papermakers and experience the ultimate in eco-friendly art forms. Tours take approximately 30 minutes and include a hands-on papermaking session as well as a complimentary sheet of paper for you to take home.

We display the largest collection of their work in Tasmania and encourage you to “meet” these spectacular “Paper People” when you visit.

As well as our own handmade papers, books and stationery; our gallery showcases some of the best in Tasmanian craft and art works with resident artists in attendance. With a dazzling array of handmade glass, original pictures, sculptures and bookbinding.

Creative Paper Tasmania is open from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM Monday to Friday.

Guided Mill Tours - 10 Steps to Papermaking

Our papermaking tours provide visitors with the ultimate hands-on experience. Visitors are introduced to the history of papermaking then taken through the working studios and finally provided with an opportunity to make their own paper. At the end of the tour all participants are given a complimentary sheet of handmade paper to take home.

Tours run six days a week in Winter at 1100 and 1430 and daily during Summer at 10.00, 12.00 and 14.30
